Hear what our clients have to say about their building journey with Yallingup Renovation and Construction – YRC.

Tommy undertook a project for us which was in effect a conversion of a house that was almost a kit style house and turned it into our home that we love; a really good renovation at a high standard.

Tommy had been recommended to us, and at our first meeting we sat down, showed him some pictures, told him what we wanted from a few sketches and photographs and went from there.   We didn’t have an architect and didn’t have plans; between us, we worked it out.  We knew that we were in good hands.  He has the ability to pick up an idea that we had in our head, materialise what was in our minds and run with it.

He is affable, meticulous and very particular; and I am very happy to recommend him.

Jim Short – Yallingup.

We have been using Yallingup Renovation & Construction (YRC) for over ten years now and I must say the experience has been a very pleasing one.

My wife and I live in Perth and rely on YRC to manage projects to an excellent standard with the minimum of fuss.

I run a largish printing company with print facilities in four states, requiring me to ‘go east’ about 15 times per year.  I realise how important it is for the Project Manager to get the essence of what you are talking about and carry it through when you are not around.  Tommy Trigwell, the Managing Director ‘gets it’ and always goes the extra yard in producing work of an excellent quality.  I seek his opinion on what works and looks good all the time.  The tradies he uses are all of high quality and seldom need to be called back to fix a job.

We chose Yallingup Renovation & Construction to build our country retreat at Kaloorup, about 25kms South West of Busselton.  It has about 500 square metres under the roof on two levels.  This includes a homestead, a gym and an attached project work area.  We also have a 68 square metre swimming pool with a automatic retractable cover to keep the ducks at bay.

The ‘stand alone’ power is a major deal for us and the power shed, panels, and wiring were all installed by Yallingup Renovation and Construction.

The Perth based project architect highly regarded Tommy and the YRC team for the quality of the finish and also for design input, especially for the entertaining / pool area integration.

Greg Coulson – Kaloorup / Jindong.

Tommy did more than just a house renovation for me.  From the very beginning until the end of my renovation project, I valued Tommy’s sense of responsibility to the job at hand, his attention to detail and his commitment to deliver the project whilst taking into account my own demanding expectations.  I live in Hong Kong and my biggest worry was choosing a trustworthy builder, especially since I was not able to regularly visit the house during the renovation.  I was therefore relieved to discover and benefit from Tommy’s competence, capabilities and resourcefulness.  Above all else I treasured Tommy’s honesty which gave me reassurance despite the fact I was living halfway around the other side of the earth.  On the few occasions when I did manage to visit the house during the many months of renovation, Tommy went out of his way to meet with me and to listen thoughtfully to my objectives and communicate the progress of the works.  I always felt that Tommy held my interests as part of his own and if you ask me, Tommy’s passion for his work shows in the end product.

Tommy’s attention to detail and his personal drive to achieve a high quality finish were greatly appreciated.  I might quote an example during the partial demolition of my kitchen only to find we were short a couple of non-standard existing kitchen tiles.  Tommy went beyond the call of duty to find a matching kitchen tile during a visit to Perth and this definitely saved me an unsightly finish to my kitchen.  This is just one of several instances when Tommy went out of his way to get the job done right without taking shortcuts.  I found Tommy to be extremely knowledgeable, he was always patient to explain his expert opinions to me which really gave me a lot of confidence in Tommy’s ability to deliver the project.  Having Tommy in charge of my project was comforting because I always felt like everything was in good hands.

I asked Tommy to design and build bespoke aluminium framed awnings above my windows to provide shade in overly sunny rooms and to add some character to the house.  Admittedly I didn’t have a very clear design brief for Tommy because it was not exactly clear in my own mind what was possible, the exact trajectory of the sun and what would look good.  Tommy went out of his way to build some mock-up wooden frames, mount them on the house and send photos so I could choose the dimensions which looked best.  Tommy also found a supplier who could make the awnings and frankly, the end result is better than I had imagined.  I could see that even Tommy was very chuffed indeed with his own handy work!

Nothing to add other than to give Tommy my heartfelt thanks for everything he did for me.  The finished renovation was all that I expected and more.

David Sein – Quindalup

We gained approval for a Liquor Store in Dunsborough in May 2015, in a site that occupied three side by side premises in the Cape Centre.  There were going to be a lot of difficulties with the conversion of this site, due to the existing set-out of the three shops.  We needed a builder with experience in shop fit out, as well as renovation and construction experience.  We also needed the job completed as quickly and efficiently as possible, so we could start trading in September.  I chose Tommy from Yallingup Renovation and Construction (YRC) because of his experience in these areas, his professionalism, and his reputation.

It was a difficult renovation, as we encountered many problems due to the design of the existing building, that was previously for more conventional retail space.  Almost the entire three shops were gutted and refitted.  Liquor Stores require specific floor lay outs, massive refrigeration requirements, functional operating and storage spaces, security requirements and office space.  Tommy’s approach to the task was logical, well planned and expeditive.  If difficulties with the plan arose, they were dealt with quickly and Tommy was able to come up with a solution that worked and was cost effective.

Tommy always brought to the site a cheerful and pleasant manner, he is honest in his appraisals and had tradesmen who had similar dispositions.

YRC completed all aspects of the renovation, including demolition, plumbing, plastering, painting and construction.

The job was finished on time and to budget, and I would not hesitate in recommending or using Yallingup Renovation and Construction.
